Canada
The Company holds 30,000 acres in the Virgo area of the province of Alberta which contains over 100 developed oil fields. The position is prospective for redevelopment opportunities within Devonian Keg River reef structures. These contain 100 million barrels of oil originally in place,of which 18 million barrels have been recovered by previous operators. The Company has drilled three successful proof of concept wells that are now on production or being prepared for production.
French Guiana
Northern, alongside the Operator Shell, and partners Tullow, Total and Wessex, has drilled the last well of the four well exploration programme in the Guyane Maritime Permit following the Zaedyus discovery. Through this drilling programme Northern has been exposed to the potential rewards that a multi-well, frontier exploration programme can bring.
Italy
The Southern Adriatic continues to be a primary focus for the Company. The Cygnus prospect has been identified up dip of the producing Aquila oil field with a possible shared oil water contact. Independent assessment has given an unrisked mean prospective resource of 446 million barrels in Northern’s 100% owned permit.
Australia
The Company has acquired a large licence in an underexplored basin that Northern believes has significant potential for economic production of oil from unconventional reservoirs associated with rich source rocks.
Development
Northern's main development play is in north west Alberta, Canada, where near term drilling activity will test an oil field redevelopment opportunity that should provide the Company with a sustainable and growing source of production and cash flow.

Appraisal
Recent subsurface work on the Giove oil discovery in the Italian Southern Adriatic has upgraded the size and potential of the field. Partners are being approached to drill an appraisal well. Appraisal of the complex Cingulata fan system in French Guiana remains a priority for the Joint Venture partners with multiple fan systems being mapped on the 3D seismic coverage.

Exploration
The prospectivity of the Italian Southern Adriatic permits was enhanced following the release of data on Eni’s nearby Aquila oil field. A 3D seismic programme is planned for these permits. Drilling activity on offshore French Guiana has now completed. A thorough technical review has commenced on the PEL629 licence in South Australia’s Otway Basin - covering 5,800 km2 lightly explored shale oil prospectivity.

Unconventional
Northern's 5,800 km2 South Australian Otway Basin licence has shale oil prospectivity identified with five exploration wells drilled. State of the art seismic reprocessing will be undertaken to evaluate the potential of this virtually unexplored unconventional shale sequences.
